Meeting of Important People featured on MTV’s The Real World

Pittsburgh’s own Meeting of Important People’s rowdy instrumental “Pretzel Rod Blues” will be featured on MTV’s The Real World: Washington DC’s season premiere. The show airs tomorrow (Wed, Dec. 30th) at 10 pm on MTV. When asked, lead singer Josh Verbanets proclaimed “We don’t know how it will be used… it could be inaudible, but its definitely in there”. 2010 Rock Hall Inductees Announced

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announced the inductees for the “class of 2010″ yesterday. Among them were The Stooges, Iggy Pop’s influential protopunk group, who were on their 8th nomination for the honor. Also to be inducted are the Swedish-pop group Abba, who had also been previously nominated. Filling out the bunch is reggae star Jimmy Cliff, Genesis, and British-invasion group The Hollies.

To be inducted in the non-performer category is songwriting duos Jeff Barry and Ellie Greenwich and Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil. Also, songwriters Mort Shuman and Otis Blackwell and music impresario David Geffen.

This year’s induction ceremony will be at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City on March 15th.

Chris Feinstein, member of the Cardinals, found dead

A reliable source from Ryan Adams’ record label, Lost Highway, confirms that Chris Feinstein, member of The Cardinals, was found dead yesterday in his New York apartment. 

Feinstein joined Ryan Adams and The Cardinals in 2006, replacing Catherine Popper on bass guitar. Before joining the Cardinals, Feinstein recorded with Jack Ingram and Strokes guitarist Albert Hammond Jr., among others. He also appears on and served as a producer on the I am Sam soundtrack. He was 42.  

Tori Amos Live Broadcast Friday, December 11th

Check out Tori Amos’ performance from Electric Lady studios in NY on Friday, December 11th at 3pm. This will be a live only performance that won’t be viewable later. Tori will be performing songs from her latest effort ‘Midwinter Graces’. Tori reworks some classic carols and provides some of her own seasonal tracks. That’s Friday, December 11th at 3pm.
