Mark Bethune- “Rocket” (Faces)
Sounds like a combination of Jose Gonzalez and Marc Bolan (T. Rex). Originally from Canada, just moved to Pgh for school (I think at CMU) from London.
The Deceptions- “Not Breathing” (Sinner’s Soul)
Great big alt-country sound. Like Old 97s and 1980′s Johnny Cash/Waylon Jennings
Kevin Finn- “Blown Spirits” (Thirteen Rune)
Lo-fi indie folk. Kevin’s sound is similar to Mark Kozelek(Red House Painters/Sun Kil Moon)
City Dwelling Nature Seekers- “Will and a Way” (City Dwelling Nature Seekers)
These guys are recent Duquesne grads who have probably listened to tons of Whiskeytown, Gillian Welch and Son Volt. Easy, breezy sounding debut.
